3MT (Mustang Mini Math Tournament)

3MT International is an individual tournament meant for middle school students and below. Winners of Bronze awards and above are selected to compete in the MMT Global Finals.

3MT Competitions is open to all students from Grades 4 to 9.


Grades 6 and below: Foal Division

Number of questions: 20 questions

Time allocated: 1 hour

Format: open-ended


Grade 7: Colt Division

Number of questions: 20 questions

Time allocated: 1 hour

Format: open-ended


Grade 8-9: Stallion Division

Number of questions: 20 questions

Time allocated: 1 hour

Format: open-ended

Scoring & Tiebreakers


⦁ Questions 1 to 10 are worth 4 points each.

⦁ Questions 11 to 15 are worth 5 points each.

⦁ Questions 16 to 20 are worth 7 points each.


Your score in the 3MT Round is simply the number of questions you get right based on the points above. There is no deduction for wrong answers.

⦁ 3MT Top 8% of individual = Gold Medal & Award Certificate

⦁ 3MT Next 12% of individual = Silver Medal & Award Certificate

⦁ 3MT Next 20% of individual = Bronze Medal & Award Certificate

⦁ 10% of participants get a Honorable mention

⦁ 50% of participants get a Certificate of Participation
